Development Engineer - Core
Design and develop innovative & cost-effective new products and/or platforms that support the Business Units goals and objectives. Incorporate new technology and innovative ideas into Char-Broil products. Uphold the values of the W.C. Bradley Co. as defined by the Value Creation Model. Develop consumer & product requirements from available insights and project objectives. Develop preliminary concept CAD models to support marketing/sales presentations and for preliminary product costing. Develop 3D CAD models, drawings and engineering Bill of Materials that meet consumer requirements, project objectives & timeline goals. Perform tolerance analysis and basic calculations where needed to support the system design. Work with the Industrial Design and Advanced Development groups to convert new product concepts into finished products that meet third party certification standards and marketing requirements. Develop product prototypes using both internal and external resources to perform both design validation and certification testing. Provide design direction to contracted engineering resources as assigned. Reduce both product and warranty cost through improved product design. Provide engineering documentation as required to the Char-Broil Asian group to facilitate product tooling release and manufacturing startup. Obtain third party certification for new or updated products to the appropriate standards as assigned. Analyze existing products to identify areas of improvement (performance, cost & quality) and update current documentation. Conduct engineering pilot runs and support production pilot runs for new products. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports. Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, or processes to meet requirements. Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information. Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions. Other duties as deemed necessary.
Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field and 36 months of experience in the occupation of design experience in consumer goods or related industry. Job Location: Columbus, GA. Apply at https://jobs.wcbradley.com/job-invite/4926/
