Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, the heart of Duke University, seeks nominations and applications for the position of Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Vice Dean serves as a key advisor to the Dean and is responsible for leading efforts to support faculty and faculty leadership within Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. The Vice Dean will be a vital partner to academic and administrative leaders; they will provide senior-level administrative leadership for the College, modeling the highest level of excellence, equity, proactivity, support for diversity, inclusion, and civility, and understanding about the College in the context of the larger University. The Vice Dean should also demonstrate an ability to lead with trust and transparency, work collaboratively with key groups of faculty, staff, and students across the College, and provide forward-thinking strategic counsel on confidential personnel matters. The Vice Dean is envisioned as a non-tenure track role and a full-time administrative position.

The Vice Dean will inherit a successful foundation built by outgoing Vice Dean Kevin Moore, a renowned political scientist and researcher, who served in the role for fourteen years. As a crucial collaborator and partner to the Dean and a key voice on the senior leadership team, the Vice Dean plays a central role in bringing the best faculty to Duke and supporting their success.

The successful candidate will possess integrity, energy, empathy, and be a collaborative,  transparent communicator. The Vice Dean will also be highly organized and genuinely enjoy creating effective systems and processes.
