Job Summary
The Director of Compensation plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates the organization's Compensation Administration functions and leads direct reports, and provides technical advice and knowledge. The Director also creates annual goals to manage the areas, and respective budgets while measuring the overall effectiveness of these areas in alignment with the strategic vision of the Division of Human Resources.
Duties include:
- Participates in the development of the Division's strategic plans and translates them into strategic and operational plans for Compensation Administration. Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning of new programs/strategies and regulatory actions as those items impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the Division.
- Establishes credibility throughout the organization to be an effective leader and problem solver of people-related issues.
- Develops and manages a progressive and proactive Total Compensation program that includes base compensation, Short Term Incentives, and Long Term Incentives to support our talent strategy while managing cost for the university. Ensures effectiveness and compliance of compensation structure, pay policies, state benefits practices, and state retirement programs.
- Develops appropriate policies, programs and manager training for effective management of the people resources of compensation professionals.
- Continuously enhances and improves the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company's investment in human resource information systems. Streamlines core HR business processes by leveraging technology and ensure that the HR team, management, and employees can successfully utilize those systems in compensation practices processes where appropriate.
- Continuously evaluates the compensation functions, structures and teams. Plans for improved efficiency and effectiveness of the groups. Provides individuals with professional and personal growth where possible.
- Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and eight (8) years of related experience with experience in a management role, or a Master's degree and six (6) years of professional related experience with experience in a management role.
