POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking an HR Specialist to join our team of professionals.
Duties Include:
- Responsible for the complete recruitment and on-boarding process for assigned positions of the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM). Develops relationships with unit managers, assesses staffing needs and implements strategic recruitment plans to successfully identify appropriate candidates. Provides ongoing guidance and recommendations to hiring officials throughout the recruitment life cycle.
- Develops a complete compensation analysis for all finalists based on internal salary comparisons, education, years of experience, market information and internal equity. Presents offer recommendations to hiring officials and provides guidance to reach a final offer determination. Negotiates salary offers with all finalists.
- Coordinates the Person of Interest (POI) appointments for all departments within the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM). Maintains log and completes checklists for all types of POI appointments including but not limited to: Volunteers, Medical Residents, Consultants, and Visiting Research Scholars.
- Completes change requests for Faculty and Admin/Staff for various actions including but not limited to, change in allocations, one-time payments, moving allowance, uniform allowance salary increases, and changes in supervisor.
- Assists in identifying, developing, and coordinating HR-related programs and events such as the Recognizing Inspirational Superior Effort (RISE) program, Administrative & Staff Assembly, HR appreciation events, among others. In addition, provides administrative support to HWCOM HR special projects as assigned.
- Maintains the time limited appointment report and follows up with the appropriate parties to extend and/or separate employment for temporary staff. Completes extension paperwork for employees as needed.
- Provides information to new employees regarding deadlines for enrollment in Benefits and Retirement plans, as well as on-boarding information including FIU email and Panther ID number.
- Coordinates the enrollment of new hires into the Canvas Catalog to the required courses based on their job descriptions and provides on-boarding information including FIU email and Panther ID number. Maintains and issues reports regarding completion of required new hire and annual trainings. Follows up with supervisor if trainings are not completed by deadline. Escalates to the HWCOM HR Director to resolve any issues.
- Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and two years of administrative experience to include Human Resources experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in recruitment & selection.
