Job Summary:
The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI) is seeking a visionary leader. Housed on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University and affiliated with the university, RCI invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director. The successful candidate will possess the qualifications and characteristics to build upon an invigorating national program that improves the lives of caregivers by assessing trends and research in long-term care, aging, and mental health. We seek an innovative and collaborative leader with broad experience to synthesize ideas, data, and trends across multiple disciplines. This individual will have the skill set to promote consensus among key national and international stakeholders in order to develop continuing learning opportunities for cross-sector, multidisciplinary providers, organizations, and professional societies working in the field. In addition, the individual will provide strategic guidance to donor organizations, government officials and others by representing perspectives on caregiving based upon the Institute's knowledge base drawn from its own community based work and collaborative research with US and international academic institutions.
• Position responsibilities include:
• Supervise staff.
• Serve as Chair of CARE-NET.
• Maintain liaison with schools/departments of GSW and sister institutions.
• Write grant proposals and help secure other sources of funding.
• Help provide information to the public about the Institute and care giving in general.
• Maintain liaison with Mrs. Rosalyn Carter to insure the Institute represents her interests and concerns.
• Help organize and execute meetings of the RCI Board of Advisors.
• Represent the RCI locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally.
• Conceptualize and execute workshops and conferences.
• Write books and articles in the care giving field.
• Develop and monitor budgets to insure that funds are expended in accordance with University System and GSW Foundation guidelines.
• Compile and present annual report detailing the activities and projects of the Institute.
• Inform the public about more effective ways of care giving.
Required Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in a field related to the work of the Institute.
• Knowledge and commitment to the mission and identity of the University and the Rosalynn Carter Institute.
• Senior level administrative experience that shows evidence of success in such areas as grantsmanship, resource development, planning, creation and management of budgets.
• Ability to maintain effective collaborative relationships with deans, associate deans, faculty, directors, staff, and students.
• Experience with instructional and administrative technologies.
• Experience in designing and evaluating outcome-based academic research programs.
