ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN FINANCE BOARD
The New York City Campaign Finance Board oversees New York City’s small donor democracy program and educates and engages voters via NYC Votes. The CFB has enjoyed a tremendous arc of progress over its 30-year history, and our updated flagship small donor democracy program is a centerpiece of this progress.
We eliminate barriers to participation by providing access to the resources New Yorkers need to vote or run for office and amplify the voices of small donors with New York City’s small donor democracy program.
You would be working with a staff and leadership that is mission driven and committed to continuous improvement for the staff and the public.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The NYC Campaign Finance Board (CFB), a nonpartisan, independent city agency that enhances the role of New York City residents in elections, seeks a high performing, committed individual to serve as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of the CFB.
The Executive Assistant will need to have experience working in New York City government to provide dedicated support to the ED.
The successful candidate will report directly to the ED and will have specific expertise and knowledge around business operation and function as related to government agencies. Given the nature of the work and proximity to decision-making, the Executive Assistant position requires the strictest adherence to confidentiality. This is an ideal growth opportunity for someone with a keen understanding of New York City government who presently serves in a junior-level administrative role, or a more experienced Executive Assistant looking for a chance to grow a career. Responsibilities of the Executive Assistant include, but are not limited to:
- Providing logistical and organization assistance
- Managing projects and commitments
- Coordinating travel, executive communication, and correspondence, proofreading, and drafting documents and other day-to-day administrative duties in support of the cfb ed
- Drafting documents, email, memoranda, correspondence, policies, procedures, etc.
- Holding and administering pcard responsibilities
- Managing calendars of the ED
- Participating and playing an active role in planning and organizing CFB meetings and public hearings
- Assisting with coordination on major initiatives
- Assisting with the creation of reports, PowerPoint presentations and correspondence as directed by the ED
- Responding to telephone and email requests for information from internal and external CFB stakeholders, the public, and others as directed by the ED
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience in government (New York City government a plus)
- Experience with high-level executive support and working with high-level officials
- Experience with or knowledge of campaign finance, small donor democracy program, and/or voting and elections law(s) (New York City government a plus)
- Flexibility, patience, and ability to maintain a positive outlook
- Familiarity with MSOffice, MS Office365, and MS Teams
- Effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize, manage time, and engage in multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills and analytical skills
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple high-priority projects and strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience working with and within government agencies
- Demonstrated interest in public service
- Excellent analytical skills, good reasoning abilities, and execution of sound judgments
- Strong problem solving, writing, editing, oral, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible administrative experience requiring independent decision-making concerning program management or planning, allocation of resources and the scheduling and assignment of work, two years of which must have been in a supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive capacity and with one of those two years of satisfactory full-time experience in business functions, such as business or public administration, human resources, marketing, business analysis, database administration, economics, finance, fiscal or economic management or research, statistics, or a closely related field;
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must possess the supervisory, administrative, managerial, or executive experience and with one of those two years of satisfactory full-time experience in business functions, such as business or public administration, human resources, marketing, business analysis, database administration, economics, finance, fiscal or economic management or research, statistics, or a closely related field as described above. Education may be substituted for the general clerical-administrative experience (but not for the supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 2 years of graduate study substituting for 2 years of experience.
