Department Description:
The Information Security & Identity Management division manages the University’s Information Security Office and Identity Management. The Security Office is responsible for coordinating and ensuring that information security across the University is consistent with industry best practices and the University’s compliance obligations. Identity Management (IdM) identifies individuals within an enterprise or group and defines and controls the access they have to information and resources within a computer network based on their roles and circumstances.

Position Description:
This position is a 100% remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
Information Technology Services at UNC-Chapel Hill is seeking a talented, creative, and technically skilled individual to join our Identity Management team. We’re building a modern technology stack with tools like Grouper, Shibboleth, midPoint, Kerberos, and LDAP in a fast-paced academic environment. Our services are a critical element of the Enterprise IT architecture, including the following areas of expertise:
– Password Management
– User provisioning
– Authentication and authorization

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
UNIX operating system administrative and shell scripting skills are required.
Education Requirements:
Master’s and 1-2 years’ experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Qualifications and Experience:
Our ideal candidate has prior experience working with Identity and Access Management architecture and design and has implemented and supported IAM solutions using current technologies and standards developed in, and for, the research and education community. We are seeking an individual with a passion for developing high quality scalable web application solutions. Our preferred candidate will have a high degree of technical skill and a broad understanding of web programming concepts. Preferred candidate will have a BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. Web application and back-end development experience with Java is highly desired. Experience with Shibboleth, Grouper, midPoint, Kerberos, and/or LDAP administration is highly desired. Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, JDBC, Hibernate/JPA, and/or various web frameworks is highly desired. Familiarity with protocols such as XML, WSDL, SAML and SCIM is highly desired. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills are key, as this person is expected to convey technical information to clients and promote understanding of Identity Management issues. This position is also responsible for managing projects independently that may involve determining the work that needs to be performed by other analysts outside of Identity Management. Prior experience managing your own projects is desired. Proven customer service skills are highly desired.
