Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time fixed-term faculty member at the rank of Clinical Instructor to work in the Crisis and Assessment Outpatient Program at the WakeBrook Campus in Raleigh, North Carolina. Treatment services include clinical crisis assessments and referral of patients of all ages who present with emergent mental health, substance abuse or developmental disability needs to emergency resources. Provide short-term crisis counseling and intervention services making clinical dispositions in conjunction with crisis services physicians, coordinating hospitalizations and urgent outpatient referrals as needed. Duties will include assessing patients’ level of functioning, mental status, mental health, substance abuse and/or emergent developmental disability needs and available supports. Determine if there are potential medical needs warranting referral to medical staff or a medical facility. Determine if consumer may need hospitalization to protect him/herself from harm to self or others. Provide brief solution-focused counseling and referral for immediate medication evaluations to avoid hospitalization when possible. Consult with crisis physician and make arrangements for hospitalization or additional other emergency services as needed. Collaborate with consumer and family and others involved in patient’s care. Educate family members on available resources. Document all clinical work thoroughly and on required forms or in the EMR within established timeframes; promptly complete patient eligibility, data entry, referral and encounter forms as appropriate. This position is a full time position and hours will be overnight (four 10 hours shifts).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must be a LCSW, LCMHC, PhD or PsyD in Psychology and have a North Carolina licensure to practice.
The successful candidate should have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in crisis and emergency environments. The successful candidate will also have experience providing leadership and psychiatric services as part of a crisis intervention team. Additionally, the successful candidate will have strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
